Rescuing Strays
We are a group of teenagers working for the benefit of stray dogs! We feed any stray dog that we come across and take care of it to the best of our abilities. If one happens to be injured/needs help, we take appropriate action. We also provide dogs with clothes and blankets in the winters, and shelter all round the year.
Fueled by my passion for the welfare of dogs, in 2020, I co-founded Dognation, a community service organization based in Gurgaon. At Dognation, we regularly feed dogs, raise awareness through a weekly newsletter, and collaborate with animal shelters to support their rescue programs.
It's been 4 years since we began working towards a better community for stray animals and we've surely made an impact! With over 800 dogs rescued, Dognation has come a long way. We also have 700 visitors on our website to date.
Dognation Weekly
Dognation Weekly is a newsletter that informs people about abuse cases related to strays and the harm being done to them. Mostly our articles are aimed to spread awareness, so that people learn about how dogs are treated across the country. Some of our articles are also of inspiring cases, where humans have gone out of their way to rescue strays. We hope this will move them to take appropriate action and make the world a better place for stray animals!
We've written over 70 articles and have over 300 readers of our weekly newsletter. Here's an example of an article I wrote in 2021, highlighting Sindhura who rescued a puppy .
Collaboration with Friendicoes
Friendicoes is Delhi-NCR's biggest animal shelter. It boasts of an Out Patient’s Department, an in-house clinic for the strays that accommodates about 150-200 animals at any point of time, 2 operation theaters, a lab, and an X-ray unit. Friendicoes SECA also has a sanctuary in Gurgaon that houses about a thousand animals.
After raising $600 through donations, Dognation collaborated with Friendicoes to help carry out their Animal Birth Control program and charity treatment. Together, we sterilized and medically treated 25 stray dogs.
